VOLTA12 - Basel 2016. Part 1.

This year, due to time and budget, I was was forced to limit myself to one satellite fair prior to visiting the 'main event' on the final day, (Sunday). I would have liked to have seen 'The Solo-Project'. - With a new venue, impressive list of exhibitors and the brave (and I think smart) decision to make entry free, it feels like Paul Kusseneers is doing everything right.

But, if it has be just one, then for me, VOLTA is still the fair to visit. They still have the best and most recognizable location, the exhibitor list is high on quality, interest and geographic variety, and the lack of bitching gallerists leads an outsider to believe it is as well run as it seems.

The following photos are from the VIP and Press preview on Monday June 13th (thanks to VOLTA for making it possible for me to attend). I have tried to be as thorough as possible but please comment to correct or add any missing credits.
Standouts for me (from this post) were Senegalese artist Erica Pina at Ed Cross Fine Art (London), The Richard Heller Gallery (Los Angeles), Julia Kühl at Frosch & Portmann (NY) and V1 Gallery, Copenhagen.
